“How Do I Declutter My Life…?”

11 Little-Known Tips ‘n Tricks

For Decluttering Your Life.

The First One’s Right Here…

If you’re looking to living a clutter-free life and a fully decluttered home, then the article below offers a lot of promise to you.

Before you can truly live a de-cluttered life, there’s one insight you really need to understand and “get” before anything else.

In fact, if you don’t know about this “secret,” you can go ahead and declutter and re-organize your home and life, but I bet that if do so without knowing what I’m about to share with you, then within 3 months, you’ll be back here, living the same cluttered life you do now.

How am I sure of this? Because it’s not really all the clutter and excessive stuff (and people) in your life that are cause all the clutter. The clutter and excess is a result, not a cause. That’s why so many people do a great job at decluttering their lives….temporarily, only to all-too-soon find themselves back in the rut of stuff, clutter, and excess that they thought they escaped from.

Don’t let that happen to you. Don’t fall for the declutter…clutter…declutter trap.

So, what is this secret? Is it to “just get rid of stuff”?

No, it’s not. If you try to “just” get rid of stuff and organize your life, home, and office space you’ll succeed for a time.

Just getting rid of stuff and “decluttering your life” is actually a very shallow illusion if you don’t first address the real cause of clutter in your life.

“Is the real cause of clutter in my life my compulsive tendency to buy stuff I don’t need?”

Now we’re getting there, but not quite. My question to you is, “Why the need to aquire more and more stuff?”

In fact, an even better question would be, “Why the need to hold on to more and more stuff that we know we don’t really need or want anymore?”

The secret is this, and I’ll try to explain it to encompass as many people as I can:

In a materialistic world, somehow we’ve been taught to associate our self-identity with what we have. It’s as though the more stuff we have, the more we are, which is obviously not true at all. Somehow, we feel less for getting rid of things we don’t need (aside from maybe recycling them, giving them away, donating them, or selling them).

Maybe it’s because we spent money on the stuff that now clutters up our lives, or know that someone else spent money and effort for that stuff to come into our possession. This is very understandable. I’ve purchased a lot of things that I’ve had to do away with. It feels like we’re like we’re “throwing money away” when we have to get rid of once-purchased possessions.

However this cause may be defined, I think we can agree that there’s something causing us to “hang on” to stuff that no longer servers us.

And it’s this tendency to hang on to stuff (and for some of us, to even hoard more) that can be very dangerous. You may not have thought that having so much clutter can be dangerous, and it may not be, in the physical sense.

But in terms of self-development and living with a clutter-free mind, it can be quite a hinderance and quite bothersome. That’s why you’re here.

Have you ever considered that having all that stuff that you’ve outgrown/outmatured is keeping you stuck in the past?

I mean, you wouldn’t give a 2-year-old the clothes he or she wore when she was 6 months old. Yet that’s what we do when we hang on to stuff we’ve outlived: we confine and imprison ourselves to our past through these outdated possessions that we identify ourselves with.

So, how do we resolve this problem, the problem of identifying ourselves with our belongings or how “much” we have?

It’s simple. It may not be easy, but it is simple: You just have to live the realization that you’re not in any way defined by what you own or how much “stuff” you have.

And that’s what a clutter-free life rewards you with…
